The Easter Dog came instead.....

There were no Easter eggs this year. Instead we had an Easter dog show up.
She is here on a week trial. IF all goes well she will remain as a permanent member of the family. Her name is Motley though Dad has decided to call her Monte after his grandpa.

A new look for Stephen - getting in touch with his feminine side

Samuel decided to top off his peanut butter feat by borrowing his older sister's make up (much to her chagrin) and giving  Stephen a make over. Here are the results. I think Sam definitely needs some make up tips from a Mary Kay Consultant.
Otherwise I was rather impressed with his fingernail, & toenail paint job. Other than he laid it on rather thick, like a high gloss car waxing job. Needless to say after photographing his handiwork, Stephen went and washed off the make up. Then scraped off the washable fingernail polish (courtesy of Klutz Press) . It is great stuff as it is completely washable for little girls and non smelly.

It's a boy! Due July 1st 2008

Well we got the call, February 29th during my Chinese class. I had forgotten to turn of my phone . When I saw it was my daughter-in-law calling, I answered it. We were doing a coloring project and all visiting , so it was o.k.
She told me she had a sonogram and I asked if they found out what sex  the baby was.

When she told me I put the phone down and yelled at the top of my lungs to my class that it was a boy! I was so excited. Now I will have two grandchildren come July 1st or so, one of each.
 How lucky can you get!
So to celebrate I went shopping with my friend Trudy to buy Lynn some maternity clothes on clearance, and on sale, and baby boy things. It was so fun shopping for a baby again! I just love the "kid to kid" store . The have the greatest prices on things.
Just  a few days ago I got new pics of my darling grand daughter girl. So I have to post one, so does she looks like Nathan as a baby in this photo (turquoise) , or  Ben (navy blue)? Only time will tell. SHe is wearing 6-9 months clothing already!
Can't believe she already weighs 16 lb. and is 24" long!
She will be 4 months old on Easter Sunday!

A new look!

Well it is spring time and winter hair is out and a new do is in.
Molly was frustrated with her long hair. She said she wanted it, but brushing it was difficult for her to do well. She has a tender head , and she didn't like our help either. We finally convinced her that she would be really cute with a short hair cut.  Once she saw her older pictures with her China baby doll haircut, she agreed.  She thought that shoulder length would be  good.  So " off with her hair" we said , and mom wielded the scissors.
Melli not to be outdone also wanted hers cropped as well. To be frank they both look way more adorable in their new short hair.
Molly of course felt her ensemble was not quite complete and so she decided to allow me to  yank her tooth that was hanging by a thread. She was so worried it would hurt and bleed forever. Needless to say she was surprised there was little to next to nothing of blood. She then asked when I was going take it out, after it was already in my hand.
So... here she is with her hair and new toothless grin from Utah!.
She was disappointed to find this morning that tooth fairy didn't make it. A quick save, I explained she had called me to say she had broken her wing and would make it later, after her wing was repaired.  So Molly kept checking this afternoon, but as I pointed out her room was way too messy for a fairy to visit. So she promptly cleaned it up.
Well I think that tooth fairy made a quick  stop (swap) tonight before the time change caught up with her beauty rest.  Never can be too sure about those older fairies sometimes their memories are fading...

What is it about boys?

What is it about boys, that makes them do crazy things? An over abundance of testosterone or something else? As you can see from these two pictures, the need to build the tallest, or biggest or best building is an ongoing competition and challenge.
Then if you observe the pictures below, well let's just say they are up to creative mischief.
My 13 year old son Sam, goes to great lengths to avoid any kitchen jobs. He was instructed to sweep the pile off the floor and dispose of it, instead he decided to distract me  with a little humor.
Hence when the kids called me to return to see what Sam did, I expected a clean floor. After all I have been waiting since yesterday for him to get the garbage off the floor. Instead what I discovered was Stephen 9, having his foot painted with peanut butter. Yes, our new massage therapist was busy at work relaxing Stephen.
I can see the advertisement now,:  " Yes, folks, that is right, a new  beauty  treatment or was that the special peanut butter and jelly spa package? Now instead of mud,  you can have your feet spread with peanut butter. It is  guaranteed to leave them soft and supple. "
I quickly removed the peanut butter jar from our new health practitioner and placed it in the cupboard lest someone double dip the knife of crime in the jar.
Needless to say  I was laughing by the time I looked at Stephen's face totally relaxed, with this new spa therapy treatment.  A quick hopping on one foot to the bathroom and a foot step on the carpet and the side of the tub left an indelible impression on me as to the cost of this escapade. In the meantime the guilty offender made a run for cover so he wouldn't be caught with the clean up job  .
Needless to say the kitchen floor still sits only partly swept, so I think I am confiscating his laptop tomorrow until said chore is done.
Meanwhile I have to go wash a bathroom rug with that marvelous remover "Now" I bought at Sam's club, gets the grease out of anything! Sam's older sister was NONE too happy about the side of her bathroom tub being smeared with peanut butter. When she complained, Dad was her hero as the  knight in shinning up the tub . He wiped it off, and cleaned up the mess, restoring the Princesses to their clean kingdom.   So now another family legend has been added to our repertoire.
